Being cold-natured, I usually have lots of quilts hanging around. Even in the summer, I like to curl up with a cup of coffee and a lightweight quilt.
I also like to use interesting textiles for decorating--unexpectedly. For example, I have used old rag rugs as well hangings, table runners and scarves as window dressings, silk scarves as table runners, and quilts as table coverings.
Here are some of my favorite quilts and textiles:
Pottery Barn quilt that I use on a window seat as a cushion
Jupiter quilt from Crate and Barrel in master bedroom
Pottery Barn quilt in guest bedroom
Lightweight denim and cotton quilt for summer nights
This magnolia flower quilt was made by a West Virginia quilt maker. It has been used as a bed coverlet (my daughter's room when she was a child), a table covering at my sister-in-law's wedding, and as a wall hanging.
Another lightweight quilt I use for cool nights in the courtyard
Old rag rug that "decorates" a hallway
Rag weaving that I made in undergraduate school on a handmade loom.
Hand painted silk scarf from The River Gallery in Chattanooga
Hand painted and appliqued silk scarf from the Appalachian Center for Arts and Crafts
Living in the south, I have always wanted to "apprentice" with a weaver or quilt maker.
Until then...
